MacVisor Beta

Pricing and Licensing

MacVisor Professional and Business licenses — permitted use, per-host coverage, activation, and renewal terms.

MacVisor is licensed per Mac host. One license covers one physical Mac, with no limit on the VMs, jobs, or users on that host. What separates the two tiers is who may hold the license, not how many virtual machines you may run.

Professional is for one person, on the Macs they use, whether or not the work is paid. It may not be held by a company, team, or other legal entity.

Business is licensed to the organisation rather than to an individual. It covers its shared, pooled, lab, build-farm, and unattended Macs, renews annually, and includes priority support.

Both tiers activate online through Polar. There is no offline license: a Mac has to reach the licensing service once, at activation. For bulk host licensing, purchase orders, volume pricing, or support/SLA requirements, please contact us for a quote.

All sales are final. Please try MacVisor first with the free 30-day trial and see the refund policy below before you buy.

Note: pricing, renewal and terms may change in future for new orders.

MacVisor versions and macOS

MacVisor is versioned to macOS: each major macOS release gets a matching major MacVisor release. The first is MacVisor 27, for macOS 27.

It requires an Apple Silicon Mac. There is no Intel build and no macOS 26 build: the storage, cloning, and device features MacVisor is built on are macOS 27 APIs.

Updates and upgrades

A license is bought for a major version, and it includes maintenance updates — fixes, compatibility work, and improvements to the version you own — for at least 12 months from purchase, and for as long as Apple supports the macOS release that version targets.

Professional and Business licenses are issued for a one-year term and are reissued when you renew.

Whichever tier you hold, your VMs are unaffected by licensing: nothing deactivates a .macvisor package, alters its disks, or stops a VM you have already created.

When the next major macOS arrives and MacVisor ships the matching major version, existing licensees move to it at a discounted upgrade price rather than paying full price again. Staying on the version you already have is always a valid choice.

A free 30-day local trial is included with the beta, so you can test VM creation, snapshots, networking, guest tools, and automation on the Macs where you intend to use it.

Activation and renewal

The signed and notarized beta includes a 30-day local trial. No payment information is required to start it, and it is the complete application — there are no feature limits.

A paid license is validated once, at activation: a single online check against Polar, after which verification is entirely local. There is no periodic re-validation and no phone-home during the term. An annual license does one renewal check when the term ends.

Activation is per Mac host. A key activates as many Macs as were bought; if it has reached its activation limit, MacVisor says so when you try to activate. Your VMs are untouched either way.

Polar is MacVisor's merchant of record. Polar securely handles checkout, applicable sales taxes, invoices, subscription management, and online license-key delivery.

Your VMs are yours

Licensing gates the MacVisor application, never your data. If a license expires or you stop using MacVisor, .macvisor packages, their disks, and their snapshots remain ordinary files on your disk.

Refunds

We do not offer refunds. The 30-day trial exists so that you never need one.

The trial is the complete application. There are no feature limits and no payment details required to start it. Please use it on the Macs you actually intend to run MacVisor on, with your real data and your real workflow, and buy a license only once you are satisfied it does what you need.

If something does not work as documented, write to us before you decide MacVisor is not for you. Most reports turn out to be something we can fix or explain.

Polar, our merchant of record, processes every transaction, so any refund is issued by Polar under their terms rather than by us directly.

In exceptional circumstances we may agree a partial refund at our discretion. Payment processing and platform fees charged by Polar and their partners are not returned to us, so any such refund is net of those charges.

Where local consumer law gives you a statutory right to cancel or refund a digital purchase, that right applies in full and takes precedence over this policy.
