Features
Mark any volume as protected and Noject will block all ejection and unmount attempts from Finder, Disk Utility, or third-party apps.
A lightweight background agent enforces protection even when the UI is closed. Starts automatically on login and survives reboots and sleep.
Noject remembers your protected drives by UUID. Plug them back in at any time, and they are automatically shielded once again.
Right-click any volume in the menubar to quickly Reveal in Finder, or (on protected volumes) use Eject Once (bypass) for a one-shot ejection that leaves your saved settings untouched.
Protect a mounted SMB (Samba), AFP, or FTP / FTPS share and Noject keeps it connected. When the share drops, because the server rebooted, the network blipped, or your Mac woke from sleep, Noject asks Finder to remount it by URL and retries, prompting for credentials when needed. It stores only the share URL without any password; credentials stay in the macOS Keychain. This feature is exclusive to the Mac App Store app and is not in the free website download.
A look inside
How it works
Step 01
Launch Noject and allow the background agent in System Settings. It adds itself to your Login Items automatically so it's always ready.
Step 02
Click the Noject icon in your menubar and flip the switch on the drives that "aren't going anywhere". They are now shielded from ejection.
Step 03
The background agent takes over. You can close the UI and your volumes stay protected across reboots, sleep cycles, and re-plugs.
Languages
Noject is fully localised in 11 languages. It follows your macOS system language automatically. There's nothing to configure.

In their own words
Notes from App Store reviewers and the r/macapps launch thread.
I always click the wrong button and eject my external hard drive by mistake! I love that this app quietly runs in the background and completely stops me from accidentally disconnecting my drive ever again!
this is actually so useful lol. i cant count how many times ive accidentally ejected my main work drive and had a mini heart attack mid project
You are a saint. I will absolutely try this out and if I like it, pay! My Mac mini home server has 4 disk cables poking out the back and it’s in a precarious location. Time Machine hates my clumsiness!
built an entire app because you kept ejecting the wrong drive is honestly the most relatable origin story on this sub
I like this a lot. My Mac Mini + SSD thanks you for that.
Nice app, I have external hard drive that I don't want to eject, but sometimes I accidentally do that when I'm trying to eject my SD card.
Amazing work! I'm a CLI guy but still love to use an app like this! Supported!
this is brilliant, thank you so much.
Using Noject?
A short review on the Mac App Store helps other people with permanently-plugged drives find it.
From the Maker
I spent over a decade building cloud infrastructure, but my most critical storage now sits on my desk: a Mac mini connected to a high-speed NVMe enclosure with RAID arrays.
The problem was simple: I'm constantly mounting and unmounting DMGs and other removable media. In the rush to clean up my sidebar, I'd frequently, and accidentally, eject my RAID volumes. I looked for a utility to lock them down, but popular tools like Mountain or Ejectify were focused on making ejection easier, while I wanted the exact opposite.
So I built Noject to be that missing safety switch.
Noject blocks accidental unmounts in Finder, Terminal, and other macOS apps, so the drives you marked as protected stay mounted. ScaleNinja is where I ship infrastructure tools for people who care about their data and setup as much as I do.

Compare
Most drive utilities help you eject or auto-eject volumes, often around sleep. Noject keeps selected drives mounted and blocks accidental ejection.
